Frequently Asked Questions

How should our business start using the LegacyJ Transaction Platform? What Transactions would be the ideal target?

LegacyJ recommends that a self contained application of moderate size should be selected.    You will notice the following:

  • LTP will dynamically convert the BMS maps to HTML screens at execution time (PF keys will continue to function and navigation between display fields will be maintained)

  •  Access to DB2 will be maintained through JDBC; permitting data to remain on the mainframe and accessed either locally or remotely depending upon your desired configuration.

  • VSAM data migrated into SQL will continue to be accessed as it was defined within your COBOL programs through JDBC connections and will comply with J2EE application server access requirements.

The selection criteria should not be solely based on application size but also transaction volume.  Migration candidates should be selected from those applications which would be best accessed from an Application Server.
