Frequently Asked Questions

How should a LTP project be defined in the LegacyJ IDE?

When defining a Cobol Project, specify the  'Project Type', then select 'Compatibility' and specify the 'Transaction Cobol Project' option.  Specifying a 'Transaction Project', sets up the compiler to accept CICS commands,  IBM compiler options, and includes the LegacyJ Transaction Platform in the Java Build Path.

Transaction Project settings can be verified by checking the following COBOL settings:

  • In right-click project, Properties, Cobol Compiler Settings for the project, you should see that category LegacyJ Transaction Platform has EXEC TRANSACTION/CICS is enabled.
  • Datatypes and Storage category should have Datatype Compatibility set to IBM ASCII.
  • In right-click project, Properties, Java Build Path the Libraries tab should include PERCOBOL_CORE/percobol/ltp.jar as well as percobol.jar.
